A fund-raising concert was held on Saturday evening at the Church of the Resurrection in Bucharest to mark one year since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Conducted by British Ambassador Andrew Noble, conducted the church’s choir which performed “The Armed Man” by Welsh composer Karl Jenkins, a “Mass for Peace“, a moving piece that diffuses a powerful message of support to Ukraine.
The concert will also be attended by Ukrainian Ambassador Ihor Prokopchuk/Embassy of Ukraine in Romania/Посольство України в Румунії, who was the Guest of Honour at the event.
The concert was accompanied by pianist Adina Cocargeanu and musicians of the Romanian armed forces.
One of Romania’s Imams also participated in this unconventional work.
All donations will be used to support the Church and its work for Ukrainian refugees in Romania, the church and British embassy said.
Separately, the British embassy lit up its embassy in the colors of the Ukrainian flag which it called “a tribute to the strength and courage of the Ukrainian people.”
