Bulgaria’s ski resorts welcome first snow in weeks

Bulgaria’s main ski resorts have welcomed the first snowfall since before Christmas, the Sofia Globe reported.

Most snow fell in the higher altitudes of Bulgaria’s ski resort of Bansko, with snow expected in the town itself later in the day.

However, there is no snow forecast after Thursday.  It was the first snowfall since Dec. 19.

“There’s 20cm on the slopes above the top of the gondola lift around Bunderishka Poliana and 30cm at the top,” according to Lance Nelson of Bansko App, the outlet reported.

He said he expected “more slopes to open very soon,.”

Like other ski resorts in Romania and across Europe,  there has been little snow this winter,
