The number of cases of confirmed coronavirus climbed to more than 10,400 on Friday, with 312 new cases reported in the last 24 hours.
The death count rose to 552, the Strategic Communication Group said in its daily report. Separately, 70 Romanian citizens abroad have succumbed to the virus.
Seven people died in Romania the past day, including a 26-year-old man from the central county of Mures, the youngest person to die from the disease so far.
There are currently 241 patients being treated in intensive care.
More than 2,800 patients have recovered from the virus, authorities said.
A total of 121,600 tests have been carried out since the virus outbreak began.
There are 12,251 people in institutionalized quarantine and 27,410 people in self-isolation at home.
