Four more people died early Monday after catching the novel coronavirus taking the death toll to 1,270, authorities said.
The Strategic Communication Group reported a total of eight more deaths since its last announcement on Sunday afternoon.
Some 124 new cases of coronavirus were reported from Saturday to Sunday, the lowest daily figure in two months.
There are currently 160 patients being treated in intensive care for COVID-19
There are now 2,330 people in institutionalized quarantine with about 95,500 people in self-isolation at home and under medical supervision.
So far, more than 439,000 tests have been carried out.
More than 3,000 Romanians abroad have tested positive for coronavirus, most of them in Italy, where 1,699 cases have been reported. Some 106 Romanians have succumbed to the virus.
