Presidential frontrunner George Simion has appeared in a photo taken during his recent visit to the United States of America, obtained by Universul.net, seated next to Mateea Petrescu, the communication director of the Tate brothers.
Petrescu’s name also appears in a worth 1.5 million-euro lobbying contract that Simion’s AUR part allegedly signed on April 18, 2025 with BGD Legal and Consulting to arrange George Simion’s recent visit to the United States. Simion has denied wrongdoing.
The photo is the latest evidence of close ties between the Tate brothers who are on trial in Romania for charges of human trafficking and rape and Romania’s far right which controls 30% of Parliament.
George Simion has defended the Tate brothers on several occasions, including immediately after they were arrested by DIICOT last summer on charges of trafficking minors and sexual intercourse with a minor.
“In my case, in the case of the #Tate brothers and in the case of every Romanian citizen, the judicial system must act free from the obscure parallel state and globalist influences and serve justice!”, wrote George Simion, the day after the arrest of the two. The Tates have denied wrongoing.
In March 2023, Reuters reported on tapped phone conversations that appeared to show that Andrew Tate tried to recruit Diana Sosoaca (SOS) and George Simion (AUR) to support him. The pair denied the accusations.
This photo is linked to reports that Simion approved the signing of a contract of 1.5 million dollars of Romanian state money to denigrate Romania in the US, during interviews and meetings with American officials, according to a copy obtained by Universul.net.
One of the two men sitting opposite George Simion is Anatol Lieven, director of the Eurasia Program, Quincy Institute, G4Media information, a British author, journalist and political analyst according to Wikipedia. He is currently a visiting professor at King’s College London and a senior fellow at the Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft.
The contract signed on 18.04.2025 provides for a lobbying campaign to ensure Simion gets support from well-known American personalities, MAGA fans. The money is state funds allocated to Romanian parliamentary parties.
During his visit to the United States last week, George Simion met with Steve Bannon, Robert W Malone and influencer Jack Posobiek. All three meetings were posted on X platform.
AUR has denied the information linked to contract. “The information presented by you is false. There is no contract signed by AUR with the company you refer to. It is misinformation. I did not sign any contract or give any money to an entity in the United States or any other country as you described in the article. Our expenses are transparent and do not amount to the amount you display,” AUR said.
George Birnbaum, the man who helped former consultant Arthur Finkelstein make Soros a bogeyman in Viktor Orban’s Hungary is a partner in BGD Legal and Consulting, a lobbying firm with which the far-right AUR party signed a €1.5 million contract to arrange George Simion’s recent visit to the United States.
According to a 2019 article published in 2019 by Swiss magazine DAS MAGAZIN, political consultant Arthur Finkelstein died in August 2017, while the creation of Soros as a negative figure was his final project.
In 2011, in one of his few public speeches, he said: “I wanted to change the world. This is what we have achieved. But I made it worse.”
