Football Museum opens in Romanian capital, 1st of its kind in Eastern Europe

Football Museum Bucharest, the first of its kind in Eastern Europe has opened in the heart of the Romanian capital.

The museum hosts various objects from football history, shirts and boots belonging to famous players and various recreational places.

It offers visitors a ‘Romanian Room’, an “International Room,’ ‘Experience Room’, ‘Interactive Room’, a “Practice Room’ and a “Fan Shop.’

The museum which is in Bucharest’s Old City was planned for this summer, but was delayed until the autumn.

The project is the result of a collaboration between football, the hospitality business, entrepreneurs, business and marketing consultants, and authorities.

It says it has ‘eight levels of amazing experiences waiting for you at Football Museum Bucharest. This is the perfect place to relive historical football moments and also the place to create unique memories by taking part at our events along with your football idols.”

There are jerseys, multimedia experiences, football simulators, new media installations, a Football bistro, a fan shop and events, it said.

Tickets cost 49 lei, about 10 euros, for adults, 33 lei for children and the under-7s are free.

Visitors can see a collection of valuable items belonging to players who wrote history.

Items on display include: the shirt worn by Maradona in the 1983-1984 season when he played for Barcelona; the jersey worn by Romanian star player Gheorghe Hagi in the 1990-1991 season at Real Madrid; a signed jersey worn by Ronaldo at a match of the Brazilian national team.
