A part of the films featured this year at the Transylvania International Film Festival (TIFF) will be screened in several towns and cities throughout Romania, as part of the four-month TIFF Unlimited Caravan roadshow.

„After the success of the 22nd edition of the Transylvania International Film Festival, which gathered over 120,000 viewers in front of the big screens in Cluj-Napoca, some of the TIFF movies can now be watched in several locations in Romania, in outdoor and indoor screenings. From July to October, the TIFF Unlimited Caravan is traveling the country and making stops in Breb, Iasi, Predeal, Satu Mare, Targu Lapus, Zabola, Timisoara, Bacau, Bistrita, Braila and Brasov”, a release informs.

The caravan’s program includes the newest Romanian films, as well as international productions that were sold out at TIFF.

Entry to the movies will be free.

„Some of the towns where the TIFF Unlimited Caravan stops do not have functional cinema theaters during the year. Through our initiative, which is already in its 14th year, we try to screen new films and facilitate the meeting between the audience and the teams of actors and directors. It’s a chance for Romanian, as well as for international festival films, to reach as many viewers as possible in the country”, said Angi Istrate, the project’s coordinator, as cited in the release.

On July 22 – 23, the TIFF Unlimited caravan will be in Breb – Maramures, regaling viewers with „perhaps one of the best Romanian films of all times: E Pericoloso Sporgersi, the comedy directed by Nae Caranfil”, in a digitally restored version.

The program also includes the Spanish-Italian drama Alcarras, directed by Carla Simon, winner of the Golden Bear at the 2022 Berlinale.

Between July 28 – 30, the caravan is scheduled to stop in Iasi. Thee new Romanian comedy „Inca doua lozuri/Another Lottery Ticket”, directed by Paul Negoescu and starring Dragos Bucur, Dorian Boguta and Alexandru Papadopol, will be shown outdoors. The program includes another comedy that opened TIFF.22 – Hafsteinn Gunnar Sigurthsson’s Northern Comfort, starring Timothy Spall, but also the classic love story Casablanca.

In the weekend of July 28 – 29, the TIFF films will also be available in Predeal.

The later stopovers for the TIFF Unlimited Caravan are Satu Mare (August 4 – 6), Targu Lapus (August 4 – 6), Zabola (August 9 – 10), Timisoara (September 1 – 3), Bacau (September 1 – 7 ), Bistrita (September 1 – 7), Braila (September 8 – 10) and Brasov (October 6 – 8).

The complete program of the TIFF Unlimited Caravan will be announced on the project’s dedicated Facebook page and on tiff.ro.
