The Louvre heist of October 19, 2025 involved the theft of eight — or possibly more — pieces of jewellery from the Galerie d’Apollon at the Louvre.
On October 25, two suspects were arrested: one at Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport who was intercepted while boarding a flight to Algeria, and another was picked up his home after DNA evidence on the scooter he used to flee the scene of the crime linked him to it.
On October 29, five more people were detained in and around Paris, as part of the investigation.
On November 1, prosecutors announced two additional suspects have been formally charged: a 37-year-old man (charged with organized robbery and criminal conspiracy) and a 38-year-old woman (charged with complicity/accomplice).
The 37-year-old man, who remains in pre-trial detention, was charged for organized robbery.
The 38-year-old woman, who is from the suburb of La Courneuve, also remains in custody after being charged as an accomplice.
Both deny involvement and remain in custody.
Meanwhile, the other two suspects were charged earlier: a 34-year-old Algerian national who was arrested at airport, and a 39-year-old French citizen arrested at home after a DNA match.
This means that four people have been charged and detained in custody.
Five in total were detained on October 29, and three were released without formal charge. The other two were discovered later on.
The stolen jewels have not been recovered.
