How things are looking after Navalny’s funeral

Thousands of people attended Alexei Navalny’s funeral and burial on Friday – even as the Kremlin warned mourners they could be arrested if they break Moscow’s strict anti-protest laws that ban unsanctioned public demonstrations and gatherings.

On Saturday morning, Navalny’s mother was seen at his grave, accompanied by his mother-in-law.

The grave was already piled with flowers.

By Sunday evening, so many flowers had been brought to Alexey Navalny’s grave at Moscow’s Borisovskoye Cemetery that they completely covered the wooden cross set up over it.

Mourners came throughout the entire day to lay flowers at his grave, with the line of people waiting to pay their respects often stretching for several hundred meters.

Cemetery security demanded that people leave as soon as they had placed their flowers.

After the cemetery closed at evening hours, dozens remained outside, crying „Navalny” and throwing flowers over the fence, where they would land on his fresh grave.

Police security was high throughout the entire time.
