Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has declared that Hungary and the United States will agree on an economic cooperation package that will help the Hungarian economy and could balance out the effect of U.S. tariffs on Europe.
Orbán, who has long supported Trump, has hinted that a trad war between the U.S. and the E.U. is indeed possible.
Talks took place at the annual conference of the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Last week, President Trump stated that his administration would soon announce a 25% tariff on goods from the EU.
He claims that the package, which has good chances of becoming a reality, may restrict or entirely negate the effect of a possible trade war within Hungary.
He says that he is currently negotiating with the US to renew a tax treaty that the previous American administration terminated.
