For decades now, the Pride Parade has processed down Andrassy Avenue in central Budapest.
But now, Hungary intends to amend the constitution, and have it say that “a child’s right to physical, mental, and moral development “takes priority over all other rights, except the right to life”.
“The country does not have to tolerate Pride marching through downtown Budapest”, said a minister of Orban’s government.
The organizers pushed back, saying that freedom of assembly is a constitutional right.
The government retaliated it should be held in a closed venue in that case.
