Dozens of Iranians living in Romania on Wednesday rallied outside the  US embassy in Bucharest and called on President Donald Trump to intervene to end ‘terror and mass killings’ in the country.

Iranians around the world have  staged large protests in recent days to draw attention to a a crackdown by authorities to end more than two weeks of widespread anti-government protest.

Sources now say that at least 12,000, and possibly as many as 20,000 people have been killed in the violence.

Information has been hard to access due to Iran’s hardline rulers cutting off internet access and phone service in the country for the last five days.

Mehrzad Moghazehi, a well-known Iranian chef based in Romania, wrote on his Facebook page that the Iranian regime has instituted a regime of terror in the country, and amid the violent repression of the protests, each family would have had two or three deaths in the family or in the circle of close friends.

This is their message to the US president:

Mr. President,
the brave young people of Iran, in the midst of their struggle on the streets of the country against a corrupt and cruel regime, have chosen your name to honor one of these streets.

Have you ever wondered what the reason is?

These freedom fighters, through this symbolic gesture, want to convey to you that they feel you are with them and that they place their hope in you. The engraving of your name on the streets of the city is a sign of the faith and trust that the Iranian youth have in you.
Be convinced that, every day and night, tens of millions of Iranians pronounce your name in their homes, with the hope and certainty that, through your support, they will be able to restore the glory and greatness of their country as soon as possible. That day is near; and although Your name is now written on the streets, Your place will forever remain in the heart of every Iranian.
