Many happy returns, Călin Georgescu! May you spend many years behind bars! (By the way, Trump couldn’t even save even his ally Bolsonaro)

Călin Georgescu / Inquam - George Călin
Călin Georgescu / Inquam - George Călin

Pro-Russian former presidential candidate Calin Georgescu was sent to trial for being complicit in the attempt to overthrow the constitutional order and communicating false information. Chief mercenary, Horațiu Potra, along with 20 other mercenaries from his clan will also stand trial.

By the way, it’s not impossible that that they will all start informing on each other_ the charges are  serious, the potential punishments are commensurate. It’s only human that each one of them will be tempted at some point to break away from the gang and look for solutions to save their own skin (of course,  to the detriment of friends).

But there’s still a long way to go. For the moment, attention should be drawn to Calin Georgescu’s first reaction to the indictment; the pro-Russian has three main lines of rhetorical counterattack.

  1. He breathlessly compared his own situation with Trump’s in 2016 – “the case as such is an carbon copy of President Trump’s 2016 case, with the same accusations, only the actors are different.” Beyond the ridiculousness of the statement, though not entirely unexpected, Georgescu is suggesting what the core narrative of his future defense strategy may be both in court and to his base. But judging by how many services Donald Trump has rendered to Putin’s Russia in the first eight months of his second term alone, I would be inclined to see such an approach by Georgescu as a basic mistake.  If he still has good lawyers and if he is willing to go with them, it is very possible that the pro-Russian Calin Georgescu will later look for another way to build his defense.
  2. Călin Georgescu has placed himself for a moment in the role of inquisitor, saying he was exposed to a Judas type betrayal. From his words, I deduce that he accuses slightly more than half of the Romanian people, probably those who did not vote for him, and then the candidate that replaced him in the May re-run, George Simion. In other words, those who dared to put critical thinking, authentic patriotism, the true love of freedom at the service of the ballot box. “A country endures through the brave, those who dare and is extinguished through the cowards who sell themselves like Judas. Some 2000 years ago there was a Judas. Now there are millions of Judas,” Georgescu says with bathos. What else can he mean by “millions of Judases” than millions of Romanians? You are either with me or against me, this is the mentality of the individual, it is absolutely congruent with the dictator’s mentality and – what can be learned from it? – It fits perfectly with Putin’s philosophy. What a superb self-denunciation, doffing the hat to Russia!
    1. Among other delusional thoughts experienced by Călin Georgescu, after he and his band of mercenaries were sent to trial, was the following “verse”: “The action of the globalist-Sorosist oligarchy unleashed the dehumanization of the world with a single goal, its control”. Of course, he (one again) zealously amplified a central pillar of Russian propaganda, but that’s not even the big problem (it was already known that it bears the Kremlin’s patron saint). The problem is that at the same time that he compares himself with Donald Trump (see point 1), Călin Georgescu is taking over one of the fundamental pillars of the Trump administration – the US Treasury Secretary, Scott Bessent. Scott Bessent is today a very close friend of the American president, he is the very man who has his finger on the button in the trade wars with the wider world, unleashed by Trump. But before he became what he is today, the same Bessent was a super “Sorosist”; he got rich from his relationship with George Soros, he climbed the political ranks thanks to this social elevator that Soros represented in his life. Scott Bessent’s relationship with George Soros in the 1990s was defining: as a partner at Soros Fund Management and head of the London office, Bessent contributed to large financial bets, including the more than $1 billion gain from the 1992 sterling crisis, an experience that cemented his reputation in the investment world. The fact that Trump is today a premium fan of “anti-Sorosism,” while at the same time working with one of his former masterminds of the Soros empire, is part of Trump’s sci-fi appetite for manipulating the masses and “milking” them politically and even financially. As in the case of Viktor Orban, who was originally Soros’ stock marketer. Because in his youth, the Hungarian prime minister even wrote personally to George Soros’ foundation, asking it to sponsor him with a scholarship at Oxford, mentioning that he was interested in it – God, forgive him! – the revival of civil society.
  3. In his pro-Russian campaign, Calin Georgescu relied, like a lamb on the butcher, on the total support of Donald Trump and his administration. Support existed, but not totally and not that effective, as we can deduce from the  forks that are pushing him in the back today.Of course, Trump is vocal and bold enough to be able to mislead. Călin Georgescu learned the hard way, and it is downright pitiful that he insists on this delusion even today; today, when the whole planet already knows that Trump’s “support” has buried another heavyweight – the former Brazilian president, Jair Bolsonaro.

The former president of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro was sentenced to almost 30 years in  prison after being found guilty of plotting a military coup. And unlike Georgescu,  Trump, his administration and MAGA even made titanic efforts to save Bolsonaro.

Happy birthday, Călin Georgescu! May you spend many happy years behind bars!
