The City Hall of Sighișoara recently announced that the Medieval Festival will not be organized this year after the local council voted against it.
„For the first time, the Medieval Festival in Sighișoara cannot be organized because the majority of local councilors did not vote in favor of this event. In fact, the entire calendar of cultural, artistic, social, and educational events that were planned to be organized this year by the Municipality of Sighișoara was rejected in the vote, despite being budgeted”, reads a press release from the City Hall cited by Mures News.
The festival was originally planned for 28 – 30 July 2023.
On social media, many have expressed their disappointment towards the disruption of the s tradition, which has been considered culturally important since it was taken up after 1990.
