Romania’s annual inflation rate was 10.42% in June

Romania’s annual inflation rate dipped to 10.42% year-on-year in June, down from 10.85% in May.

Services rose by 13.67%, non-food goods by 12.29% and food by 5.75%, according to the National Institute of Statistics (INS) data published on Monday.

‘The consumer price index in June 2026 compared with May 2026 was 100.06%.

The inflation rate since the beginning of the year (June 2026 compared with December 2025) was 3.8%, while inflation from June 2025 to June 2026 was 10.4%.

The average change in consumer prices over the past 12 months (July 2025 – June 2026) compared with the previous 12 months (July 2024 – June 2025) was 9.8%, according to  the INS release.

The National Bank of Romania revised upwards its inflation forecast for the end of 2026 to 5.5%, from 3.9% previously, and expects inflation to reach 2.9% by the end of 2027, according to data presented in May by the bank’s Governor, Mugur Isarescu.
