Andrew Tate, the proud misogynist and online influencer, currently under house arrest in Romania for human trafficking and exploitation, has been accused by multiple women of strangling and raping them.
If found guilty, the two men could be jailed for more than 10 years. They strongly deny all charges. But things only get worse for their case as details come to the surface from witnesses – particulate as underage girls are said to be involved.
Before moving to Romania, which has a significant webcam industry, Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan ran a webcamming business in Luton.
Two women who say they were raped and strangled recently told the BBC the specifics of the controlling environment in which they lived alongside the two brothers, and are suing the Tate brothers in London.
These are references from a period ten years ago, in Luton, and the women are British.
Tristan has also been accused of rape and strangling, but declined to comment.
The first women related the following, from 2013: “He started kissing me… and he just looked up at the ceiling and said, ‘I’m just debating whether I should rape you or not. Out of the blue he just grabbed me by the throat, smashed me to the back of the bed, strangling me extremely hard”, after which he raped her, and wrote her the following messages: “Am I a bad person? Because the more you didn’t like it, the more I enjoyed it,”; “I love raping you”; “Are you seriously so offended I strangled you a little bit?”.
Andrew Tate has declined to comment here.
She reported this to the Bedfordshire Police in 2014, and in 2019 the file was rejected by the Crown Prosecution Service for lack of evidence.
The second woman, who went on what she called “a standard one-night stand” with Tate once, was later attacked by him during sex, as she lost consciousness while being strangled by him – which she says did not lead him to stop. She did not go to the police.
Another girlfriend, who followed Andrew Tate to Romania, says she was raped by him after she broke up with him, and also did not report to the police.
Five women in the UK have said to have been strangled by Tate, says the BBC. When interviewed by the BBC in 2023, Andrew Tate denied ever having strangled or having had sex with a woman without her consent.
“I know I’ve never hurt anybody. It’s not in my nature to hurt people,” he said.
Bedfordshire Police is currently following extradition for the brothers. Besides exploitation of women, they are also awaiting trail for tax evasion.
