A set of five unique Rolls-Royce Black Badge Cullinans curated by French artist Cyril Kongo has been unwrapped in a move that takes the British luxury auto brand into new territory.
The cars are painted in Rolls-Royce Blue Crystal over Black paintwork outside, and spotted with blue metallic particles which sit over the color layer.
There’s also a bespoke coachline, which is finished in two different colors, different on each side. This duo theme is continued with the brake calipers, painted in different colors at every corner.
Inside the Rolls-Royce, the contrasting color scheme has been taken to another level. The woodwork has been hand-painted by Kongo himself in a range of bright colors, making every panel on every car unique. Each panel is then coated in 10 layers of lacquer by Rolls-Royce staff.
“I want people to discover this creation step by step. The more you explore, the more you see. The outside should only subtly suggest the universe inside,” said Cyril Kongo.
These panels are fitted on the doors, dashboard, picnic tables and the standard-fit waterfall section between the rear seats.
Each of the four seats comes with its own contrasting colors on the piping, leather inserts and even the lambswool floor mats. High-contrast blue leather inserts are found on the dash and each of the door cards features embroidery with more of Kongo’s symbols.
Outside, the usually chrome elements are finished in black, including the Spirit of Ecstasy and the inner sections of the flat ‘RR’ badge. There chassis is a collaboration between Rolls-Royce and the art world.
There were no details about the cars’ pricing.
