Romania’s interim President Ilie Bolojan called Pope Francis “a voice that has always reminded us of the importance of kindness, empathy and care for the vulnerable.”

“His legacy, full of wisdom and compassion, will continue to inspire us for years to come,” the interim president said after attending the funeral.

“Today at the Vatican, I paid homage to His Holiness Pope Francis, a voice that has always reminded us of the importance of kindness, empathy and care for the vulnerable,” Ilie Bolojan said in a Facebook post.

According to the interim president, Pope Francis was “a defender of peace and a leader who acted tirelessly to support those in need.”

“His legacy, full of wisdom and compassion, will continue to inspire us for years to come,” he concluded.
