Romania’s forest agency says it will plant 20 million saplings and regenerate 9,000 hectares of forest as part of a Spring campaign.
Romsilva said the re-forestation campaign had already begun due to good weather, News.ro reported.
The trees will be planted in the northern county of Suceava, the eastern counties of Vrancea and Bacau, and Arad in the west and Mures in central Romania, according to a press release.
Most of the planting will be carried out in the “Tree Planting Month” from March 15-April 15, n Romsilva said.
In the last five years, the National Forest Administratioi has regenerated some 73,000 hectares of forest land, most of it through natural regeneration.
Romsilva manages 3.13 million hectares of public forest, just under hlad of Romania’s forests. It also manages 22 national parks and 12 stud farms.
