Save the Children Romania has launched a fund to provide humanitarian assistance to Ukrainian children who have fled the war.
People who want to help can make a single donation of 2 euros by sending a text message to the number 8827.
Save the Children Romania on Thursday said it has teams of volunteers in the field who have been providing humanitarian assistance to Ukrainian refugee children at the border crossings of Sighet, Siret, Giurgiulesti and Isaccea and three asylum seekers centers.
Romania’s Prime Minister Nicolae Ciuca said 18,000 displaced Ukrainian children had fled to Romania since the Russian invasion began on Feb. 24.
Save the Children Romania said refugees need information about the asylum procedure and psychological counseling.
“They have witnessed dramatic situations and children have a hard time coping with them,” a statement said.
They are in need of basic things such as blankets, hats, gloves, medicines, toilet paper, and food.
Save the Children has been active offering help to asylum seekers in Romania since 1995.
Since then, 9,200 children and their families have benefited from daily activities, financial assistance, social and psychological counseling and material and educational support.
