UPDATE. Nine schools in Romanian capital remain closed for a second week due to flu outbreak

Public health authorities say that nine schools and kindergarten in the Romanian capital will remain closed due to a flu outbreak.

The Public Health Department initially said that three kindergartens and three schools would suspend classes on Monday for up to three days this week, and then updated the total to nine facilities.

Authorities said they decided to close facilities where more than three pupils had flu in a single class.

Elsewhere, authorities continued to disinfect schools in an attempt to contain the spread of flu.

Last week, nine schools and kindergarten were closed in Bucharest due to the flu outbreak.

One school was evacuated after and 18 pupils required hospital treatment after they  complained of headaches and respiratory difficulties caused by disinfectant substances used to sanitize the facility. The school has reopened.
