UBB to handle center for climate change

A national consortium coordinated by Babeș-Bolyai University in Cluj (UBB) was awarded the organization of the competence center dealing with climate change, by means of a project worth approximately 3.8 million euros.

According to a UBB press release, the national consortium includes the University of Bucharest, the national reference institute (INCAS, INOE), the National School of Meteorology (from the National Meteorological Authority), other scientific and/or social - economic agents. 

"It was completely normal for a national competition center of this type to be located in a Cluj-Napoca core, given that the field through UBB is one of the best proportionally and with international relevance (e.g. academic infrastructure. part of UBB's European ACTRIS network), and the new smart cities specialization applied by UBB, InfoBioNano4Health, also includes this component related to the saline environment, in addition, the Center complements UBB's institutions in this essential field for human civilization at this moment in its evolution . , namely recently approved by the UNESCO Department of Sustainability and Climate Change", said the rector of UBB Cluj-Napoca, Professor Daniel David, in the press release.

According to the cited source, four more such competition centers are being organized in Bucharest, in the field of ecological protection of oceans and water resources, and UBB is part of one of them.
