VIDEO | Romania qualifies for the finals of the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest

Romanian artist WRS has qualified for the final of the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest with  Llámame, a song with English lyrics.

“I’m glad that the jurors liked our song, the fans mobilized and promoted it on social media, and today, the Romanians from the diaspora voted. It’s a great feeling to know that so many compatriots support you,” WRS said after qualifying.

The final is being held in Turin, Italy on Saturday.

Artists from ten countries, out of 18 participants in the second semifinal, qualified for finals.

Belgium, the Czech Republic, Poland, Finland, Azerbaijan, Estonia, Australia, Sweden and Serbia also qualified for final. They joined  Switzerland, Armenia, Iceland, Lithuania, Portugal, Norway, Greece, Ukraine, Moldova, and the Netherlands, plus the so-called Big Five– France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom.

The 25 countries will perform in Saturday’s grand final in Turin, Italy.

Ukraine is the favorite to win, but because it’s Eurovision,  but as anything can happen.

Romania  has finished in the top 5 on 3 occasions. In 2005 and 2010, Romania finished third in the Grand Final, the best placing for the country to date.

In 2017, Romania scored its first top 10 place in the Eurovision Song Contest since 2010 with Yodel It by Ilinca ft. Alex Florea. In 2006, they hosted the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Bucharest.
