Romanian police have detained a man and his 14-year-old son on suspicion of beating up driver in traffic in Bucharest almost two months ago.
The road rage incident took place in December, in Sector 5 of the Capital, when a 39-year-old man, his teenage son and another man got out of the car and beat up a driver for not giving priority in traffic.
Police detained the father and his son on Tuesday for 24 hours, and are still searching for the third aggressor, a statement said.
Police said on December 14, they received an emergency call from a 30-year-old man saying he was being physically assaulted in a traffic conflict.
“Checks carried out revealed the driver had failed to give priority when he changed lanes and a spontaneous conflict broke out between the drivers of two cars,” the statement said.
After the two vehicles involved in the incident stopped, several got out of one car and physically assaulted the driver, punching and kicking him.”
A medical crew intervened and provided care to the victim, who was later transported to the hospital. He was not seriously injured.
Images captured by a dash cam show a scuffle taking place between the drivers, after the aggressors cut off the victim’s path, force him to stop and pull him out of the car.
“Following the investigation, three people were identified, respectively two men, aged 37 and 39, as well as a minor, aged 14, suspected of committing the act. On February 3, 2026, the 39-year-old man and the 14-year-old minor were detected and taken to hearings,”
The perpetrators could face charges for physical assault and fordisturbing the peace and public order.
