Winter weather expected in Romania

A cold snap will finally arrive in Romania after weeks of unseasonably warm temperatures, meteorologists said Monday.

After days of sunny weather with temperatures as high as 16 Celsius in the capital, Bucharest and no snow in the mountains, cooler weather is on the way, forecasters said.

Temperatures will drop starting Monday and stay cool throughout the country for the next two weeks, the National Meteorological Administration said.

There will be highs of 4 to 6 Celsius an lows of minus 2 to 6 Celsius with snow forecast from Wednesday.

It will snow in Transylvania and Crisana,  northwest Romania with low of -3 Celsius.

Similar weather is predicted for southern Romania, where the capital is, with snow forecast from January 6.

Good news for skiers where temperatures will drop to as low as –9 Celsius with snow expected from Wednesday.
