Romanian tennis player Irina Begu has won the WTA 125 tournament in Montreux, Switzerland.
She beat Croatian Petra Marcinko with 1-6, 6-3, 6-0 in the final on Sunday. As results show, it was a tough fight; Begu lost the first set but made a forceful comeback.
The game was one hour and 33 minutes long.
The Romanian lost the first set of her duel with Marcinko, but managed to make a come back and win.
Irina Begu won a check of 15,000 dollars and 125 WTA points, reports Agerpres.
Petra Marcinko was awarded 8,000 dollars and 81 WTA points.
This is Beau’s third WTA 125 title. She has won five WTA singles titles and played in four finals, and has also won nine WTA doubles titles, in addition to seven other finals.
She will play next week at the WTA 125 tournament in Bucharest, the Tiriac Foundation Trophy.
Irina Begu is 34 years old.
Romania currently has four female tennis players in the Top 100: Irina Begu, Sorana Cîrstea, Gabriela Ruse, and Ana Bogdan.
