There were 485 patients in intensive care units which is the lowest figure since August 23.

However, the number of deaths, 27 men and 20 women, was the second highest daily figure this week.

One fatality was in their 30s,  another was in their 40s, five were in their 50s, nine in  their 60s, 17 in their 70s and 14 were over 80.

All had underlying health conditions such as cancer, diabetes and heart disease apart from one.

The total number of cases on Friday climbed to 92,595.

As usual, Bucharest reported more cases than any other place with 114 new infections. Brasov had a daily rise of 75 new cases and the Prahova valley reported 64 new infections.

The Carpathian mountains run through Prahova and Brasov county and are very popular with tourists, especially from the capital as they aren’t that far.
