Fewer than 200 coronavirus cases reported in Romania for third day in a row

For the third consecutive day, Romania reported fewer than 200 cases in the past day, as cases edged toward 19,000.

The Strategic Communication Group said Friday that 191 people had tested positive for the virus in the last 24 hours, while the total virus count rose to 18,982.

The death toll from the  virus stood at 1,240.

Almost 13,000 people have now recovered from the virus.

There are 182 patients being treated in intensive care.

Some 421,500 tests have been carried out so far.

There are some 3,300 people in institutionalized quarantine, and more than 95,100 are in self-isolation at home.

Some 3,074 Romanians abroad have tested positive for COVID-19, more than half in Italy, where 1,699 were diagnosed with the virus. Some 106 Romanian citizens have died from the virus.
