The world’s oldest person, Sister Inah Canabarro Lucas, has died at the age of 116.
A Brazilian nun, she was born in 1908 and joined the church in her her early 20s.
Sister Inah was blessed by Pope Francis in 2018.
She said that God is the secret to life.
The other nuns describe her as “grateful and good-humored”.
Granted, she was very lucky to have had very good health all her life – her first surgery was for cataracts at the age of 106.
She died a gentle death of old age, not of a particular disease.
“She liked to get up, eat, and pray and sleep at the same time each day,” her relatives told Brazilian TV.
She was a huge football fan, celebrating her birthday with a stadium-shaped cake and wearing the scarf of her favorite team (Porto Alegre), and owning relevant paraphernalia.
The world’s oldest person is now 115-year-old Ethel Caterham from Surrey, England.
