An earthquake measuring 4.2 on the Richter scale has rattled parts of southern Romania. There were no reports of damage or injuries.
The National Earth Physics Institute said the trembler occurred at 20.55 at a depth of 30 kilometers on Sunday evening in Dambovita county, north of Bucharest.
The epicenter was 48 kilometers northwest of Ploiesti and 58 kilometers south of Brasov and 93 kilometers northwest of the capital.
Small and moderate earthquakes frequently occur in Romania. The country has not has a major once since 1977, which killed more than 1,500 people.
Most temblors have their epicenter in Vrancea, eastern Romania, a seismic area.
