The UK has signed an enormous deal promising to build at least five warships for Norway’s navy.
British Type 26 Frigates will be constructed in Glasgow.
Though all European countries have been spending more on security since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, an investment of this heft has been called an “important and historic moment for European security”, which France also bargained for.
Actually, Germany and the USA were both said to be interested in supplying Norway with this occasion, as well.
This £10 billion deal will permit a fleet of at least 13 anti-submarine ships from the UK and Norway (at least five of which will be Norwegian) to operate together in northern Europe, where it is to shield Europe against Russian-sent spy vessels and nuclear submarines.
Eight frigates for the Royal Navy are already under works in the Glasgow yard, where it will supply over a hundred Scottish business with up to 4,000 jobs in the next decade, the Independent reports.
