A Romanian dog that was recruited by police in the U.S. state of South Dakota has made her first drug bust on her second day in the job.

Suni, a female Belgian Malinois from Romania, began her service with the Tea Police Department in South Dakota following the completion of a six-week K-9 training certification course, Sioux Falls reported.

She was paired with Officer Taylor White and trained in narcotics detection.

The Tea Department proudly said that their new recruit was already paying dividends, and only made her first drug bust, which led to an arrest on her second shift.

“It’s true, dogs make the world a better place and Suni proved that,” the Tea Police Department posted on Facebook.

Suni was obtained by the department following the signing of a December 2018 agreement between the Tea City Council and the Kasseburg Canine Training Center in Alabama. The $8,500 expenditure was funded by a grant, the department said.

While her favorite part of the day is going to work, the department said, she also enjoys “a good game of fetch” in her downtime.

Suni is expected to be available for introductions to the public at various community events.

It can take up to six months to train a sniffer dog. A dog will be trained in basic obedience, search techniques, and scent recognition. Police use dogs as their noses are thousands of times more acute than a human’s. German Shepherds and Belgian Malinois are among the most popular narcotics detection breeds.
