Far-right Romanian MEP Diana Sosoaca has been removed from a European Parliament session for interrupting a speaker three times.

President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, requested that Ms. Șoșoacă be evicted from the room for breaking rules by interrupting French MEP Valerie Hayer from Renew, at the other end of the political spectrum.

“How many colleagues are needed to escort her out of the room? I think you have spoken enough,” said Ms Metsola responding to Ms Șoșoacă’s vocal and theatrical protests.

According to images shared by party colleague Luis Lazarus, Ms Șoșoacă raised an icon, shouting “In God we trust!”

She put on a muzzle and started shouting in English: “I have the right to speak. I was voted by Romanians.”

Siegfried Muresan, MEP and Vice President of the EPP said: “Indiscipline and violation of rules are immediately sanctioned. She made a fool of herself,” in a Facebook post.

The European Parliament said  she was “escorted out of the Chamber after shouting and interrupting the plenary debate three times.”

She was  elected to her first term as an MEP in June 9 elections. A former Senator she gained notoriety in Romania for her anti-immigration and anti-vaccine stances, as well as her disruptive behavior in the Bucharest legislature and theatrical gestures.

Known for a pro-Kremlin stance, she visited the Russian embassy after winning a seat inthe June 9 elections.

Her SOS Romania party issued a statement later Thursday saying: “The European Parliament (is an) institution that censors and suppresses voices against bureaucratic dictatorship and attacks on the fundamental values of European nations.”

The  statement described her as “a true national and European hero (who) was abusively escorted from the plenary of the European Parliament after she courageously expressed her opinion on faith and freedom.”
