Romania’s president congratulated Joe Biden Saturday on winning the U.S. presidency.

President Klaus Iohannis tweeted “Congratulations to President-elect @JoeBiden on his victory.”

The Romanian president said he was looking to “consolidating our solid and dynamic #StrategicPartnership in all its dimensions.”

“Romania will continue to work to strengthen the security, prosperity and resilience of our transatlantic community,” he said.

Romania is one of the closest allies of the U.S. in eastern Europe, along with Poland.

News outlets CNN, NBC, ABC, CBS, the AP and USA Today and later Fox News all made the call on Saturday morning that Joe Biden had won the vote.

But President Donald Trump defiantly refused to concede the president election to Joe Biden claiming the election is not over and saying his campaign would unleash a new round of lawsuits on Monday.

Kamala Harris is set to become the first female vice president and woman of color in the White House.
