Two decades after Shrek premiered, Dreamworks has announced that Shrek 5 will appear in cinemas on July 1, 2026.

Eddie Murphy has also suggested that his iconic character Donkey will get his own film.
Pixar has also announced that it will release Toy Story 5, which is about traditional toys competing against electronics.
What’s more, Pixar is also working on the Incredibles 3.
There is no more public information to date, but the move suggests that newer stories have not had the same impact as those from the golden age of animation at the beginning of the 21st century, and so makers are returning to the older plot lines.
