A direct train service on the Kiev – Ungheni – Bucharest North line and back will begin operation from October 10.
This is sponsored by Ukrzaliznytsia, state-owned Ukrainian railways.
The price of a trip in a sleeping car (a four-bed cabin) is 73.40 euros.
The launch of this route is another step towards Ukraine’s integration into Europe’s transport grid” said representatives of the Ukrzaliznytsia railway company.
Ionel Scrioșteanu, Secretary of State in the Romanian Transport Ministry, announced in August that the Ukrainian cars would be attached to “Friendship Train” via Chișinău.
There was previously a train between Kiev and Bucharest, years ago, but this one follows a different path, crossing the Republic of Moldova.
