The Ukrainian minister said he was confident of ongoing cooperation between the two ministries and strengthening the energy security of the entire region.
He said Ukraine was particularly interested in implementing of joint projects in the gas and electricity sectors.
„Ukraine has the largest gas storage facilities in Europe and offers international partners the use if natural gas storage facilities…. European traders have already started pumping their gas into our facilities, and the volumes already amount to about 600 million cubic meters,” Galushchenko said.
He also emphasized Ukraine’s interest in developing cooperation in the field of natural gas transportation through the Trans-Balkan gas corridor.
In addition, the parties discussed the implementation of agreements on the restoration of the interstate overhead line between the 750 kV substation „South Ukraine NPP” and the 400 kV substation „Isaccea” in eastern Romania.
This project is important for expanding the capacity of cross-border networks. It will guarantee a more reliable supply of electricity to consumers in southern Ukraine and remove restrictions on the generation capacity from renewable energy sources in these territories, he said.
Galushchenko thanked Romania for supporting Ukraine’s energy sector and said reserves would help Ukraine in the colder months.
