Meteorologists forecast strong to severe storms on Saturday in parts of western Romania.
The unstable weather comes as a disturbance moves through the country in the afternoon, firing up thunderstorms.
Forecasters have issued an amber warning until late Saturday evening in southwest Romania and the western Carpathians, News.ro reported.
A few of those storms could be strong to severe with hailstones and torrential rain.
There will be 20 to 40 liters of rain per square meter in some areas.
Forecasters said the storms will be the southwest Banat region and in Maramures in the northwest. Thunderstorms will also hit parts of Transylvania.
Temperatures will continue to be high, despite the rain, especially in low-lying areas.
Scorching temperatures are forecast for next week. July is known as “the month of the oven” in Romania.
