The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases reached 8,936 on Monday, and the death count rose to 460, authorities said.
The Strategic Communication Group said 190 new cases had been reported in the last 24 hours, one of the lowest daily case counts in recent weeks.
In the past day, nine more people succumbed to the virus, aged from 63 to 98. Three of those were at a care home in Galati where there has been an outbreak of COVID-19. Galati is a Danube port in eastern Romania, where
Slightly more than 2,000 people have recovered from the virus, authorities said.
There are currently 261 patients being treated in intensive care.
Some 14,500 people are in institutionalized quarantine, while just under 43,000 are in self isolation at home.
