VIDEO. Romanians protest against pandemic restrictions for 4th night

People took to the streets in their hundreds in cities across Romania on Wednesday for the fourth night running to protest pandemic restrictions.

In the capital, several hundred people blew vuvuzelas in protest against compulsory masks and other measures including an 8 p.m. curfew and early closing hours.

They yelled “Freedom!” and claimed Romania was under a “medical dictatorship.”

They urged others to join them and accused journalists of dishonest reporting.

Protesters vented against Palestinian-born Raed Arafat who heads the emergency services and is has been one of the most visible officials during the pandemic.

The government introduced new measures after a spike in cases which have threatened to overwhelm the underfunded health system.

Romania reported 6,156 new Covid-19 cases on Wednesday and 127 deaths.

Also Wednesday, it crossed the two million vaccine dose mark.
