Woman, 20, becomes youngest person to die of COVID-19 in Romania

A 20-year-old woman has become the youngest patient in  Romania to die from COVID-19.

The unnamed woman, from the county of Vaslui, a deprived area in northeastern Romania, returned home from Britain in early April and was placed in quarantine.

On April 9, she was admitted to a local hospital and two days later she tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

Five days later , her condition deteriorated and she was transferred to the Infectious Diseases Clinic in Iasi, the regional capital of northern Romania.

The young woman, who suffered from obesity, high blood pressure and other ailments, died on April 30.

She was the 730th person to succumb to coronavirus in Romania.

Romania has reported more than 12,500 cases of with coronavirus and the death count stands at 744.
