On an NBC interview, Donald Trump has said he is “very angry” and “pissed off” with Vladimir Putin.
Putin has been stalling a ceasefire for weeks.
Trump has now threatened a 25-50% tariff on anyone who buys Russian oil.
(The US is already set to implement a lot of import taxes independently.)
That is, until Putin stops hemming hawing.
He has a month to think about it, but Trump will talk to him later this week.
Trump has reiterated that he wants to “stop the bloodshed in Ukraine”.
This marks a significant and welcome shift in Trump, who many condemned for what they saw as excessive friendliness towards Russia.
Trump said that what angered him was al allusion of Putin’s towards replacing Zelensky, which Trump called a wrong direction for peace — though he is no fan of Zelensky.
Zelensky himself left the White House on bad terms after the first televised live spat of its kind in US history.
