Long loathed and reviled by his opponents, Donald Trump is now seeing a stellar turn in his luck.
After a gunman grazed Trump’s ear with a bullet at a rally, a Florida judge dismissed the case against him regarding the classified documents he stored in his Florida home.
On Monday, Trump posted that this “should be just the first step, followed quickly by the dismissal of ALL the Witch Hunts”.
He had entirely denied wrongdoing.
At the beginning of July, the US Supreme Court granted presidents a definitive “absolute immunity” from prosecution for core official acts – and Trump’s recent acquittal is probably a reflection of that.
Now, at the Republican Convention, a bandaged Trump was greeted by boisterous cheering.
A moved audience pumped their fists and called out “Fight! Fight! Fight!” – echoing Trump’s cry after a bullet grazed his ear at a rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday, reports the BBC.
At the Convention, almost 2,500 Republican delegates formally nominated Trump as their presidential candidate during a roll call vote.
In contrast, at the presidential debate, Joe Biden’s slip-ups have put the comparatively lucid Trump in a positive light. Moreover, democrats have not come up with a convincing plan for his campaign.
