Bucharesters witnessed a police chase they may have thought was a scene from a movie after police dramatically pursued a motorist who refused to stop.
A police officer eventually apprehended the man after colleagues blocked the car, jumped on the bonnet and threatened the recalcitrant driver with a gun.
A video clip of the police chase went viral. The incident happened on Sunday in sector 5 of the capital, according to the Bucharest Road Brigade, notes Aktual24.
„On January 7, police officers from the DGPMB – Road Brigade, who were exercising their duties, summoned a motorist to stop who was driving on a street in sector 5. The driver did not comply and continued to move towards Rahova Square, trying to evade officers,” the Road Brigade said after the incident. .
The police pursued the car which they managed to block. Images show a policeman climbing on the car bonnet and ordering the driver to surrender at gunpoint.
The man had a suspended license and was driving with false number plates, both criminal offenses.
„The driver was taken to the headquarters of the Road Brigade where investigations were carried out in connection with driving an unregistered or registered vehicle, driving a vehicle with false registration numbers, and driving a vehicle without a license.”
