Dozens of socialites, personalities and fashion lovers gathered for the “Fashion is Timeless, Diamonds are Forever!” show held in the garden of the British ambassador’s residence.
The soiree in the leafy Primaverii district on a warm Thursday evening showcased a variety of Romanian designers_ some better, others lesser-known brands_ but all glamorous, innovative and Romanian.
The event was organized by Lucie Portman, the wife of H.E Giles Portman, the British Ambassador to Romania, and Cristina Batlan, the co-founder of Musette, the Romanian shoe and bag company.
Guests rubbed shoulders with Romanian musician Loredana Groza, fashion designer and celebrity Andreea Raicu, and former Foreign Minister Luminita Odobescu, now adviser to interim President Ilie Bolojan.
The evening sparkled with bold and intricate styles_ many creations in black, white and red. In an added twist, professional models were joined by fashion-loving local personalities.
Guests sipped on champagne and Romanian wine and sampled amuse-bouches (horseradish tart, roast beef tartlet, caviar and salmon on a tiny blini) served by attentive waiters.
“An impeccable show that supports Romanian fashion and places it exactly where it deserves to be – up among the best and in the spotlight,” wrote Alexandru Ciucu.
“Congratulations to Lucie and Giles Portman… for their elegance, openness and refinement…. And for Cristina Bâtlan – respect and admiration for her courageous vision and for bringing local design to such a special setting,” he added.
Amalin by Andreea Raicu, Depot 96 and Ana Radu Fashion and Dualitae were modeled at the show. Jewelry was by STIL DiamondsVPM,
