The number of new coronavirus cases surged to 238 on Thursday, the first time since May 16 that the daily count has been higher than 200.
The total number of COVID-19 cases so far is 19,907, the Strategic Communication Group said.
Thursday’s count was twice the figure on Tuesday, when just 119 new cases were reported.
The death toll from the virus climbed to 1,299, the group said.
There are currently 153 patients in intensive care.
Some 2,363 people are in institutionalized quarantine, and more than 96,000 people are in self-isolation at home under medical supervision.
Almost 473,000 tests have been carried out so far.
