On Sunday, an assailant poured an unknown liquid over a woman on a tram in Gera, eastern Germany on Sunday, setting her on fire.
The attacker was able to flee the scene of the crime because the other passengers pressed the emergency button. He hopped out of the open door.
His motives are unknown.
The tram driver put out the fire immediately with an extinguisher.
The woman was taken to a hospital by helicopter with life-threatening injuries.
She is 46 years old. Curiously, her husband has not been found by authorities, who have called for a search for him – which actually suggests that he might be primary suspect.
