Buckingham Palace on Wednesday released a picture of President Nicusor Dan meeting King Charles III

Romanian President Nicusor Dan on Wednesday visited King Charles III at Buckingham Palace, said a brief statement issued by the royal family on social media.

The statement did not say what was discussed during the meeting between the president and the British monarch.

Nicusor Dan met the king two days after Romania’s broad coalition government survived a no-confidence vote  over its economic policies and reform plans.

The President will attend the European Council Summit in Brussels on Thursday where the war in Ukraine will be discussed and funding for Kyiv for the next two years.

Video footage shows the official photograph from the meeting between President Nicușor Dan and King Charles III at Buckingham Palace and the official motorcade arriving at the palace.

Nicușor Dan also met with Romanian businesspeople in London and held a press conference today where he addressed domestic issues including tensions within the justice system, taxes, and political tensions in the governing coalition.

Nicușor Dan also visited Helsinki this week.

The coalition has now survived six no-confidence votes since taking power half a year ago, mostly over tax hikes and spending cuts aimed at reducing the EU’s largest budget deficit and preserving its investment-grade rating.

In May this year, Nicusor Dan, a centrist, defied the odds to win the presidency.
