Man didn’t land on the Moon, according to Romania’s hard-right political man of the moment

Calin Georgescu is a skeptic of NATO, bottled water and climate change, and something else that Romania’s latest unlikely political star doesn’t believe: that man landed on the moon.

His views on Russia are  well-known. He calls Vladimir Putin a ‘strong leader’ who loves his people and achieves his goals ‘anyway he can,’ in an interview with public television in 2018.

The ‘TikTok Messiah” as he’s known after his meteoric rise to fame was credited to the social platform won 22.94% of votes to easily win the first round.

Centrist mayor  Elena Lasconi came second with 19,17% and the expected winner, Marcel Ciolacu came an embarrassing third.

Romania’s Constitutional Court has refused to validate the result and called for a recount, a first in Romanian history.

The results of the recount will  be published on Monday. The court will decide Wednesday if there should be a re-run of the presidential election.

His theory on man not landing on the moon.

“Some say that man has reached the moon. I don’t think so, I’m sure it wasn’t like that. It’s another manipulation, but that’s another topic. That was a manipulation, with man walking on the moon. It’s proof that after they were in the ’70s, there was no one left on the moon. I mean, suddenly, we didn’t have the technique to do it,” he said in an interview.

On July 20,1969,  Neil Armstrong and Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin became the first men to walk on the moon after reaching its surface in their Apollo 11 lunar module.
