The B9 Summit in Bucharest which gathered regional leaders, NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was a topic of discussion Thursday on UK radio station, Monocle Radio.
Universul director Alison Mutler offered her analysis which can be heard from minute 31: 25.
Here’s the link.
The discussion touched on regional cooperation in the face of Russian aggression and domestic political uncertainty as well as Russian aggression and a joint statement adopted endorsing the “NATO 3.0” strategy, which focuses on higher defense spending, stronger European military capabilities, and a reinforced transatlantic alliance.
Asked about the juxtaposition of solid regional cooperation and domestic political instability, Mutler mentioned that Universul editor-in-chief Laurentiu Mihu had just written about the topic and she’d translated it.
Romania’s parliament recently toppled prime minister Ilie Bolojan in a no-confidence vote backed by the left-wing PSD and the far-right AUR.
The instability has sent the leu tumbling against the euro and inflation hits 10,7% year-on-year in April.
